GERRARD, GORDON EARLE - It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gordon Earle Gerrard who passed away at the Campbellton Village Nursing Home on December 6, 2011 at the age of 81. Born in Campbellton on March 19, 1930, he was the son of the late Henry and Theresa (Callaghan) Gerrard. Earle lived in Tide Head until 1982 when he was transferred to Moncton with CN Rail where he lived for 28 years. He was an active member of Saint Andrews United Church in Tide Head where he served on the Board of Stewards and as an Elder. When transferred to Moncton in 1982 he joined Humphrey Memorial Church and became involved there. He was well known for greeting the people who attended the pancake breakfasts at the Church. Earle was a member of the Campbellton and Moncton Masonic Lodges and also a dedicated Shriner. He was made an honorary member of Luxor Shrine February 2011. He was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion and participated in the annual sale of poppies, member of CN Pensioners Club and a lifetime member and staunch supporter of the PC Party. Earle was inducted as an honorary life member of the NB PC Party in recognition of outstanding service and dedication to the Association on October 26, 2002. He was dubbed “Earle the Pearl” by many of his friends in the party and elsewhere. Earle was an avid hockey fan and missed very few games. He will be sadly missed by all. Survived by his wife Viola (Pentland), son Allan (Pamela) of Quispamsis, NB, his sister Maxine Price (Murray), several nieces, nephews, as well as sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Pilot Officer Robert Allan in 1944 and Kenneth (late Doris), sister Joyce (late John) Galbraith and Isobel (late Tom).
Visitation at Maher’s Funeral Home, 33 Lansdowne Street Campbellton, Thursday, December 8th from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm. The funeral service will be held from St. Andrews United Church Tide Head on Friday, December 9th at 2pm. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Maher’s Funeral Home, Campbellton.
