Raymond Alston Schofield - 80, formerly of Gaspereau, Kings County, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2011 in the Wolfville Nursing Home. Born in Gaspereau, he was a son of the late Truman and Eva (Schofield) Schofield. He was a lifelong carpenter, having worked with Wallace and Carey and retired from Fulmar Contracting. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by a daughter, Natalie (Stanley Briggs) Schofield, Port Williams; a son, R. Anthony (Audra Hill), New Minas; two brothers, Howard (Marion), Shubenacadie; Ralph (Vi), Ontario; four grandchildren, Jeff, Coady, Samantha and Brittany. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Shirley Brown; two sisters, Dorothy and Marjorie. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2011 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Father Craig Christenson officiating. Burial took place in St. Francis of Assisi Roman Catholic Cemetery, Ridge Road, Wolfville. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
