GRANT, DANIEL WILLARD - Daniel (Danny) W. Grant of Skiff Lake, NB passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Central Carleton Nursing Home, Hartland, NB. Danny was born at the Marne, NB in 1932, a son of the late Guy and Dorothy (Fotter) Grant. He was employed for a number of years as foreman and scaler for L. H. Gould Ltd. Danny enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting in his younger years but his greatest loves were attending horse races and reading. Danny is survived by his wife, Clara; daughters, Gwen VanDine (Jerry), Prince William, NB and Lynn Robinson (John), Calgary, AB; son Brent Grant, Skiff Lake, NB; grandchildren, Judson VanDine (Christina), Fredericton, NB and Maggie Robinson, Calgary, AB; sisters, Frances Duncan, Lake George, NB and Carol DeMerchant (Roy), Bath, NB and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Emma Veysey and her husband Roy, a brother-in-law, Andrew Duncan, nephews John, James and David Veysey and a niece Dorothy Ann Veysey.
To honor Danny's wishes, his remains will be cremated with no visitation or funeral service. At a later date, a portion of his cremated remains will be scattered on property near his home and the remainder placed in an urn and entombed at the Canterbury Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff of Central Carleton Nursing Home for the care they offered Danny during his final months. Danny appreciated the visits, cards and kind thoughts extended by friends and relatives during his time at the hospital and nursing home.
