Adrianus Johannus Post :
Adrian Post - age 87 of Plymouth, NS passed away January 3, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born June 5th, 1924 in Eemnes, the Netherlands he was the son of the late Lambertus and Wilhelmina (Zwanikken) Post.
Adrian immigrated to Canada in 1952, with his bride of one week, Johanna (Fokker) Post.
Over the next 59 years they built a life together raising a family of seven children. Adrian worked at Hawker Siddley, Trenton Works for over 30 years but his passion was for the family farm. Over the years he raised purebred polled Herefords and Haflinger horses. Community involvement was important to him and he showed this with his association with many organizations including, New Glasgow Credit Union, Pictou County Co-op, Plymouth Fire Department, Saint Gregory’s Parish Council, the Hereford Association, Pictou County Beef Producers and as a supporter of 4-H.
He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife , Johanna (Fokker) Post, Plymouth; children Ann (Harry) Conway, Ronnie (Dorothy), Plymouth; Wilma (Alex) Fraser, Lower Sackville; Gerald (Yvonne), Truro; JoAnn (Brian) McCullum, Sussex, NB; Riek (Robert) Matheson, Plymouth; Engelina (Kevin) Crouse, Bridgewater. Opa will be forever in the hearts of his grandchildren Maria, Christopher, Lisa, Samantha, Greg, Reann , Nadine, Jessica, Elaine, Daniel, Trevor and Rachel; also by step-grandchildren Eileen, Vanessa, Adam, Jessica and Logan; and 5 step-great-grandchildren; brothers Bep and Tinus; sisters Rie, Nel, Trees, Gerrie, and Annie all of the Netherlands; many nieces and nephews; also survived by brothers in arms Marshall Doyle and Cammie Cumminger.
He was predeceased by sons Bertie and Lambertus; granddaughter Karen Fraser; brothers Jan, Gert, Toon, Wim, and Chris; sister Emmy.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Friday Jan. 6th in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home New Glasgow. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Saturday Jan. 7th in Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with father Donald Boudreau officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to Autism Adolescent Summer Camp by sending to: Halifax association for Community Living, Autism Summer Program, 2557 Maynard St., Halifax, NS B3K 3V6, the VON or the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
