LeBLANC, YVONNE (GALLANT) - 1941 - 2012 - Grande-Digue - Yvonne LeBlanc, 70, passed away peacefully at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospital Centre, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, January 7, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Grande- Digue on June 7, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Yvon and Thérèse (Belliveau) Gallant. Yvonne was a teacher for 35 years. She was known as a devoted volunteer in her community. Yvonne was president of the “Institut féminin” de Grande-Digue” during many years, president of the “Femmes chrétiennes”, president founder of the support group for cancer “Au Seuil de l’Espoir” from 1997 to 2010, member of the “Comité culturel, member of the “Club d’Âge d’Or, member of the “Serf” and member of the “Comité des femmes survivantes du cancer du sein et amies”. She was presented with many prizes, which include the “Entraide du gouverneur general”. Yvonne will be sadly missed by her husband Roger; her four children, Michel (Carol Lockhart) of Moncton, Paul (Ann MacNaughton) of Shediac, Chantal (Daniel Landry) of Cap-Pelé, and Serge (Natalie Brine) of Trois-Ruisseaux; her eight grandchildren, Gregory, Danielle, Jonathan, Jesse, Sally, André, Isabelle and Justin; her sister, Laudia (Pierre Bourgeois) of Grande-Digue; her two brothers, Roméo (Jeannette LeBlanc) and Robert (Rita Arsenault) both of Grande-Digue; her mother-in-law, Marie-Anne LeBlanc of Notre-Dame; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, May (Henri Gagnon), Raymonde (Dismas Goguen), Georgette (Sinclair Faulkner), Noëlla (Gérard McGraw), Oscar (Jacqueline Nowlan) Irois (Roberte Haché), Rhéal (Yolande Haché) and Roméo Després; also to several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by an infant sister, Élodie.
Visitations will be held at Passage in Shediac Bridge on Tuesday, January 10 from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and on Wednesday, January 11 from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Funeral service will be at La Visistation RC Church in Grande-Digue on Wednesday, January 11 at 11 am. Interment will be in the spring at the parish cemetery. In Yvonne’s memory, a donation to the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont Foundation, to the “Fonds de secours Au Seuil de l’Espoir” or to the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
