It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Agnes Jane Roberts, age 92 on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012 at the Northside General Hospital.
Agnes was a former resident of Clifford Street and was living at the Northside Community Guest Home the past two years.
Born in Diamond Cove, Nfld., she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Best) Shepherd. Agnes was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, also the North Sydney Senior Citizens and Pensioners Club. She was a former member of the Fulton Orange Lodge, L.O.B.A. and L.T.B.A. Agnes enjoyed knitting and most recently while living at the guest home, she enjoyed painting.
Agnes is survived by her daughters, Joan (Charles) Edwards, Orillia, Ont., Mildred (William) Ferris, Riverview, N.B.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Florence (Clayton) Gutscher, Margaret (Reuben) Anderson, John (Jackie) Roberts, George (Bernice) Roberts; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Forrest, Sydney Mines, Cassie Wattam, Shelburne, N.S.
She was predeceased by her first husband, James Hardy; second husband, James Roberts; one son, Richard and one son in infancy; a sister, Harriet; brothers, Frank, Wilfred, William, Joseph, Roy and Leo Shepherd
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, with Rev. Gloria McClure-Fraser officiating. Burial will take place at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
