RAYMOND RAMSAY

Born In: Langley Park, United Kingdom
Born: September 19th, 1935

Passed in: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
Passed on: December 29th, 2011

On December 29, 2011 Mr. Raymond Ramsay passed away at Queensway Carleton Hospital in Ottawa at the age of 76 years.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gladys, his son Graeme (Susan) of Kamloops, his daughter Louise of Ottawa, his son Mark of Kamloops, his four grandsons Ryan (Gisella) of Kamloops, Kale of Kamloops/Ft. McMurray, Jordan and Justin of Ottawa as well as his sister Beatrice of Langley Park, England.

Born on September 19, 1935 in Langley Park, he was the youngest of 4 children. Ray started his career in mining when he was 15 years old at Malton Collaries and then came to Canada in 1970 answering an ad for mechanics required in Atikokan, Ontario. He worked at Caland Iron Ore Mines for 1 1/2 years and then got word of a new mine opening in BC. He then moved to Logan Lake, BC to work at the Lornex Mining Corporation in 1971, (now Highland Valley Copper) where he stayed until he retired in 1999.

Ray, truly loved being one of the boys, from the guys at work, to playing football (soccer) in England and then learning to skate and play hockey at age 36 in Canada, he was an avid golfer, played squash and enjoyed pool with the gang at the hall in Anglemont. He never missed a BC Lions or Vancouver Canucks game.

Ray and Gladys traveled the world when they retired. They visited Louise in her many places of employment, from Santiago, Chili to Quito, Ecuador, Wellington, New Zealand and Cairo, Egypt visiting the pyramids, and taking many trips back to England, Ray made friends easily where ever he went and was always up for an adventure.

The family would like to thank all of the well-wishers, the ICU doctors and nurses at Queensway Carleton Hospital, and especially Jacques and Melissa Noel and the staff at Scotia Bank Place for their heroic efforts when he suffered his heart attack while attending an Ottawa Senators game.

There will be no service as per Ray's request. The family will gather at his favorite place in the world at Shuswap Lake at a later date. We love you dad.
