David Morse
David Lawrence Morse, 41, of Harmony, N.S., passed away suddenly Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, as a result of a skiing accident in Maine.
Born in Berwick, David was a son of Donald and Margaret (Marshall) Morse, Harmony. David was the manager of the Valley Credit Union, Greenwood Branch and a graduate of Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, where he received his Bachelor of Commerce degree and was a member of Saint Mary’s Alumni. He was a graduate of West Kings District High School, Auburn, where he played soccer and was captain of the basketball team. David was president and coach with Kingston Greenwood Soccer, coach with Valley United Soccer and enjoyed playing soccer and basketball on several different teams in the Senior Men’s League. He managed several teams with Western Valley Hockey, former member of Harmony Nicholsville 4H Club and member of Paragon Golf & Country Club, Kingston. David was an avid snowmobiler and four-wheeler and was instrumental in obtaining funding for developing the trail system in the Harmony area.
He loved his family dearly and enjoyed working with his father and brother in the wood lot and “breaking” Jeff’s equipment.
David was a tissue donor, helping to improve the quality of lives for others.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife, Dana McNamara-Morse and their sons, Keighan and Rhylan; sisters, Dianne (Scott) Harris, Port Hardy, B.C.; Cathy (John ‘Jack’) Rafuse, Harmony; brother, Jeffrey (Josée) Morse, Harmony; mother and father-in-law, Kevin and Diane McNamara, Sydney, sisters-in-law, Christina (Daniel Roney), Karen (Patrick MacDougall), Maureen (Michael Rozicki) and all the extended family – aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Lawrence Marshall and Ella Hubley; paternal grandparents, Bertram and Donna Morse and his niece Abby Daisy Harris.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012 in the Kingston Fire Hall, 570 Sparky St., Kingston. Private family interment will be in North Kingston Cemetery. A Celebration of David’s life will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, 2012 in West Kings District High School, 1941 Highway 1, Auburn with a reception for family and friends to follow.
