Margaret 'Terri' MacInnis

Born In: Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia, Canada
Born: August 11th, 1933

Passed on: January 16th, 2012

It is with great sorrow and a heavy heart that we, the family of Margaret Teresa ‘Terri’ MacInnis, announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother in her home on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012.
Born in Port Hawksbury, N.S., on Aug. 11, 1933, Teresa was the eldest daughter of Duncan A. and Katherine (MacMaster) MacDonald of East Bay. She is now with God and the rest of her family and friends in Heaven.
She was the loving and loyal wife of Martin Francis MacInnis for 51 years. Teresa was the beloved and cherished mother of five daughters, Katherine, Elaine, Mary Frances, Janice and Michelle who will miss her forever. She was equally loved by her son-in-laws, Bernie, Tim, Wayne, Norm and Neil. Her grandchildren, Kendall, Lainie, and, Brandon, Connor and Sydney, Jenna and Tristen, Peter, Stuart and Taylor will miss her big hugs and kisses on the cheek-she was the greatest grandmother they could ever have. She is survived by her siblings Jean (Jim) Finn, Anne (Michael) MacIntyre, Paul (Pam), Leo (Florence), and Malcolm (Mary).
Teresa was predeceased by her parents, Duncan and Katherine; siblings Charlie, Elaine, Francis, Helen, and Donnie and grandchildren, Will and Charlie.
Our mother is lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
She was a very hard worker at the Royal Bank for 32 years but the true centre of her life was her beloved family. She was an amazing mother and a loving friend to anyone she met. She will be remembered by all for her helpful spirit and strong faith. Terri was an amazing woman, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who always put her family first. She had a zest for life and anything leopard print put a smile on her face. She loved hockey and would put anyone to shame with her knowledge of the players and stats.
Our mother looked forward to her sisters' daily phone calls and those from dear friends. She could light up a room with her beautiful smile and her laugh was absolutely contagious. It often followed one of her practical jokes. Like her brother Donnie, she loved Scottish music and to dance, but could never keep up with him. While her girls were young, she loved to dress them up in the Cape Breton plaid. She was proud of putting them through Marymount College and university and whatever prom dress they wanted, they got. When they needed a friend she provided strength, unwavering courage and true guidance. We will miss that guidance and a void remains in our hearts today.
She attended Holy Angels Convent in Sydney, Nova Scotia, and boarding school in Arichat, Nova Scotia, where she took the boat home to see her parents. In 1958, she was wed at St. Mary's parish in East Bay then ventured to Sudbury, Ont. that year to start her family and build her career at the Royal Bank. In 1975, Teresa took great pride in saving the outdoor skating program at Byng playground, in Sudbury when she took on the role as playground president. You could always find her down at the rink. She was a pillar of strength for her family and devoted to her mother. She played no favourites and loved everyone equally. We will miss her elaborate Thanksgiving dinners, her five-meat breakfasts, seeing her do her daily crossword puzzles, and checking her lottery tickets. She was one of those rare people who never said an unkind word about anyone else. We won the lottery by having her in all our lives.
“Rest in peace sweet Mother and we will see you in Heaven”
