BRIDEAU, JEAN - 1914-2012 - Moncton - Surrounded by his family at the Villa-du-Repos in Moncton, Monday, January 16, 2012, at the age of 97 years, died peacefully Jean Brideau, of Bathurst, formerly of Boishébert. He was the beloved husband of the late Armelle (Lanteigne) Brideau, of Bathurst and formerly of Caraquet.
Born in Boishébert, he was a son of the late Joseph Brideau and the late Marie-Louise Landry.
He will be missed by his children: Jean-Marie, Roland (Suzanne Doucet) and Diane (Tom Laughlin) all of Moncton; his three grandchildren: Danielle Gibson (Jason) of Fernie, BC, Nicole Laughlin of Moncton and Eric Laughlin (Isabelle Boudreau) of Dieppe; his two brothers: Napoleon (late Emilia Haché) of Hartford, Conn. and Aurèle (Rose Brideau) of Bathurst; his sister, Jeanne Basque (late Jean Basque) of St-Amable, Qc; his sisters-in-law: Julienne (Duke) Brideau of Montreal and Cécile (Lanteigne) Néfossé of Ste-Anne-des-Plaines, Qc; Alvine (Boucher) Lanteigne, wife of his brother-in-law, the late Alyre Lanteigne of Caraquet; a friend Majella Boucher of Bathurst and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a son, Claude, who died in 1980 at the age of 22, four brothers: Alfred, Edouard and Ludger of Montréal, Stanislas of Halifax and one sister, Imelda Basque of Tracadie. His friends were all very precious to him. Jean Brideau, a former employee of the provincial government, travelled the roads of Acadia in New Brunswick for many years as auditor of the Caisse Populaires and Credit Unions. This experience stood him in good stead in his final role as the Supervisor of Caisses Populaires and Co-Ops. He was a member of the Club Richelieu of Bathurst, from which he received the Horace Viau award, and member of the Order of Jacques Cartier.
Visitations will be held at Elhatton’s Funeral Home, Bathurst (www.elhatton.com), on Thursday from 2 p.m. until time of Funeral. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, January 19, 2012, at 4 p.m. from Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire Church, Bathurst. To all employees of the Foyer Notre-Dame de Lourdes in Bathurst, the Villa Providence, Shediac and the Foyer Villa-du-Repos, Moncton, a special thank you for your generosity, your dedication and the good care you provided to our father during his last 10 years. Donations to your local food banks would be appreciated by the family.

Dad, you have earned your rest, do not hesitate, speed on into infinity.
