ACKER, Florence Marie - 88 of Kingston, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Port Williams, she was a daughter of the late Banford and Reta (England) Freeman. Florence worked in the Irving Oil offices in Kingston, Margaretsville and Middleton. She enjoyed playing Bingo, square dancing and bowling. She was involved with the Kingston Fire Department Auxiliary and the Royal Canadian Legion, Kingston Branch #98 Auxiliary. Florence is survived by her husband of 67 years, Elthan whom she married on August 24, 1944; daughters, Ann (Robert) DePaolo, New Hamsphire; Joy Banks (Bruce Wood), Centreville, Kings County; Kit (Douglas) Spencer, Enfield; Rae Acker ( Gayle Baltzer), Kingston; foster daughter, Donna Marie Schofield, Kingston; foster son “Alfred” LeRoy Sproule, Wilmot; sisters, Maxine (Joe) MacDonald, Kentville; Barbara Acker, Middleton; brother, Donald (Jocelyn) Freeman, Nictaux; 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by an infant daughter and brothers, Earl, Ralph and Robie. The funeral service was held Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, (902) 825-3448 with Rev. Leon Langille officiating.  Interment in North Kingston Cemetery.
