ROBINSON, Mavis - It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, but most of all friend, Mavis Robinson (nee Shiels). Mom passed away January 15,2012 at Vancouver General Hospital after a strong battle with cancer. Mavis was born June 21, 1938 at Cabri, SK to Roy and Mae Shiels. Mavis was pre-deceased by her parents Roy Shiels and Mae Shiels, her sister Myrna Heard and her brother Alan Shiels. Mavis is survived by her children: Sharon Sletten of Swift Current, Wayne (Victoria) Sletten of Luseland, Jeff (Beth) Sletten of Weyburn, Jayson (Dianne) Sletten of Swift Current and Kate Sloan of Vancouver. Grand Children: Sever Loewen, Colin (Lacy) Sletten, Camille (Joe) Gerbrandt, Kristy Sletten, Melissa Sletten, Justin Sletten, Amy Sletten and Abby Sletten. Great Grand Children: Brooklyn Gerbrandt and Ethan Sletten. Brothers and Sisters: John, Linda, Bob (Darlene), Judy, Alice (Jerry) and Dave (Bonnie). Brother-in-law Howard Heard, sister-in-law Helen Nicol and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was a voracious reader, enjoyed curling, gardening, camping, watching golf on TV, the Food Network, and she also travelled to many areas of the world. Mom was a tremendous people person as she proved throughout her working career. Mom was an excellent cook and entertaining host and guest, always good for a comical story or two. Mavis will be dearly missed, fondly remembered, and always loved by her family and friends. A celebration of Mavis’ life will be held on Saturday January 28, 2012 at 2:00pm at the Day’s Inn Banquet Room (905 North Service Road East, Swift Current). In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Mavis’ name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
