MATTHEWS, Marion – Passed peacefully away on Monday, January 23, 2012, Marion Matthews of St. John’s. Predeceased by her husband, Max Matthews in August, 1997, and daughter, Ruth Matthews, in January, 1999. Also predeceased by brothers Bill, Herb and Jack White, brothers-in-law Lloyd and Clifton Matthews, nephew, Arch Sheppard and niece, Judy Blackwood. Leaving to mourn are: daughter, Diana Powell, husband, Ken; son, Curtis, partner, Anita Clifford; grandson, Jamie Powell, wife, Nancy; granddaughter, Erin Powell, husband, John Martin; grand-daughter Amy Wainwright, husband, Jason; grandson, Max Matthews, partner, Lindsay Beedle; great-grandsons, Matthew Powell and Jack Martin and great-grand-daughter, Ashleigh Powell. Marion was the sister of Jean Sheppard, Phyllis White, Doug White (Lynn) and Gerald White (Pats) and the sister-in-law of Harvey Matthews, Vivian Reid, Verna Pitcher and Irene Matthews. She was a special friend of Gloria Kennedy and special friend and god mother, “Miss Marion,” to Claire Skanes. Also leaving to mourn are the wonderful staff and her friends at Ruby Manor and a large circle of other relatives and friends. Visitation and funeral notice to be announced later.
