Passed in: Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada
Passed on: January 25th, 2012
It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear husband, father, son, brother and uncle, Paul Dauphinee on Jan. 25, 2012, while at work in Fort McMurray.
He was a resident of Fort McMurray since 1981. He currently worked for Car Macks, Union of Operating Engineers, Local 955 as health and safety officer.
Born in Glace Bay on Sept. 12, 1957, he was the son of Matilda (Tillie Dunn) Dauphinee and the late Omar Dauphinee of Dominion. He was a former member of Immaculate Conception parish, Bridgeport.
Paul loved anything to do with the outdoors. He loved to fish, boating, camping, snowshoeing and other activities. His greatest pleasure was spending time in his beloved Cape Breton where he had planned to retire in the near future. Paul was well known for his hospitality. He would find a place for any Caper or Newfie who went to Fort McMurray to help them get a start there and was instrumental in helping many to find work there.
“Paul's smile and the twinkle in his eye are a treasure which we will hold dear to our hearts forever.”
Paul is survived by his loving wife, Anna Marie (Stubbert), formerly of Gardiner Mines; his much loved children, Matt (Ashleigh) and Christina (fiancé, Tyler Baker). He is also survived by 10 sisters and four brothers, Corrine (Mike) Mischiek; Gerard (Jan); Lynn Dauphinee-Dodd; Nancy (Owen) Brown; Omar (Lois); Rosemary (Derrick) MacNamara; Diane (Frank Kilgar); Sharon (Doug) MacKenzie; Donna (Garry Kenny); Marquette (Danise McNeil); Patricia (Ernie) Bishop; Carol, Allen and Kelly Dauphinee as well as many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Betty Stubbert, Gardiner and was predeceased by his father-in-law, Bobby Stubbert on Jan. 31, 2001 as well as his Da, Omar Dauphinee on Oct. 15, 2011.
A Celebration of Life and reception was held in Fort McMurray at St. Paul's church hall on Jan. 31, 2012, largely attended by his co-workers and many friends. There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Monday, Feb. 6 at 11 a.m. with Fr. Danny Boudreau officiating. A reception will follow in the parish hall. Burial will be at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Curry’s Funeral Home, Glace Bay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or any food bank or St. Vincent de Paul Society.
