Nelson, Violet Marie (Smith) – 87, Truro, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2012 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Carrolls Corner, she was a daughter of the late George and Hilda (Isnor) Smith. Violet was a long time member of the St. James Presbyterian Church, Truro. She is survived by daughters, Barbara (Einar) Christensen, Halifax, Karen (James) LaRose, Dartmouth; grandchildren, Peter Christensen (Heather George), Ottawa, David Christensen, Halifax, Michelle LaRose, Dartmouth and Mark LaRose, Calgary; great-grandchildren, Julie, Gavin and Soren Christensen, Ottawa; sisters, Margaret Fulton, Stewiacke, Cora Smith, Scotts Bay, Ruby (Alton) Tupper, Enfield, Grace Turner, Milford, Marion (Ross) Barr, Shubenacadie and Avis (James) Densmore, Halifax; sister-in-laws, Muriel Smith, Hardwoodlands, Ruth Smith, Dutch Settlement and Shirley Smith, Stewiacke and Donalda Nelson, Truro. Violet was predeceased by her husband R. Lloyd Nelson; sister, Edith Smith; brothers, Carl, Max, Oran and James. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 5 from 2-4 p.m. with funeral service, Monday, February 6 at 2 p.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Clair MacLeod officiating. Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Colchester Regional Hospital Foundation or charity of choice.
