Myra Bowes

BOWES, MYRA - Myra Edwina Bowes, 94, passed away on February 4, 2012 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Amherst, N.S. She had been a resident of High-Crest Nursing Home in Springhill for the past two years. Born in Dorchester, N.B. she was a daughter of the late Sadie (Mosher) and Maurice Spidle. Myra grew up in Dorchester where she later married and raised her family. In 1966 she moved to Springhill and then to Halifax in 1971 where she remained until her move to High-Crest in 2010. Her favourite pastimes were watching NFL football and doing jigsaw puzzles. She is survived by sons Frank (Kathy) Amherst, N.S., Fred (Susan) Springhill, N.S. and daughters Marion Dentith, Pugwash, N.S., Dorothy McFarlane (Alan Dedman) Cambridge, Ontario, Ruth Crossman (Albert), Dorchester, N.B., Veronica Mailhot (Ron Turner) Guelph, Ontario, Elizabeth Jardine (Gary) Mapleton, N.S., twenty-three grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and her sister Janet Partridge, Dorchester, N.B. As well as her parents, Myra was predeceased by her husband Arnold Clarke Bowes, sons Arnold Carleton (Carl), Harry Elliott, Alonzo Maurice and Vernon Robert; granddaughter Chrissy, sister Bertha Kierstead and brothers Lorimer and Meredith Spidle.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A.L. Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St., Dartmouth, N.S., B2Y 1J5. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or memorial service. A graveside committal service for immediate family only will be held in Dorchester at a later date. Myra’s family would like to thank the staff of High-Crest Springhill (especially 700 Wing) for the excellent care she received over the past two years.
