Tearfully we regret to announce that Gary Van Dyke passed away surrounded by the love of his family on February 5, 2012 at the age of 56 years.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 36 years Leslie, his daughter Stefanie (Rob) Howell, son Scott (Erica); cherished grandchildren Brianna and Nathan whom adored their Papa. Gary's dear parents Tom and Helen are also left to mourn his passing, along with his brothers and one sister; Terry (Sheila), Mickey (Kate) and Barbie (Ron).

Gary was very proud of his flooring company and very grateful for his many friends that he made through the Street Rod Association and the Vintage Car Club.

The family wishes to express their extreme gratitude to all the staff of the ICU department at Royal Inland Hospital.

Gary fulfilled his dream of restoring many trophy winning collector cars.

There will be no service by request of the family.     “I first met Gary through my contracting business. Not only was he an excellent floor layer but a joy to have around the job site. There was always stories, jokes and a good laugh. Gary introduced me to the Vintage Car Club and our friendship continued. I will miss stopping to see what he was working on and keeping up-to-date with his projects. Gary was a good friend.

    “Dear Leslie and family...we were shocked and saddened to read of Gary's passing today.......we have known Gary since the '80's when he and his brother Terry used to show up on the job site,always cheery,always with a joke and always doing a first class job.....it was a pleasure to have known such a nice guy ...a sad time for you all..but enjoy all your happy memories....

    “Your husband, dad, grandfather was a great guy, I went to school with Gary through our great and memorable days @ NorKam and after graduation talked to him many times around Kamloops. He always had a smile on his face, cordial and always had a good story. He was a great man, friend and sadly missed - Pete Lahucik, Toronto Norkam Grad Class of '73”
