SMITH, JOHN E - 1939 – 2012 - John E. Smith, 72, of Riverview passed away on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Moncton Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Percy and Syble (Black) Smith. John was a retired letter carrier with Canada Post with over 31 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed watching the Toronto Blue Jays play ball and was an avid hockey fan who rarely missed a game played by his grandson Ty. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Pam (Barker) Smith, daughter, Rindy Smith (Charlie) of Osborne Corner, Warrant Officer Kevin Smith (Deborah) of Oromocto, sisters; Irene Rob, Marina Alain (Scotty) and Joyce Smith, all of Moncton, Frances Crooke (Bob) of Arnprior, ON, twin sister, Joan Chessman of Barrie, ON., and cherished grandchildren; Tyler, Colby and Cassidy. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister, June Young, and a brother, James.
In honoring John’s wishes there will be no public visitation. The funeral service will take place from Cobb’s Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 330 Whitepine Road, Riverview (869-2007), on Sunday, February 12, at 12:30 pm with Rev. Chris Vanbuskirk officiating.
