Paul King Hanbury

Born In: Canada

Passed in: Canada

Paul King Paul Hanbury, a business leader in the BC Interior Forest Industry, died of heart failure on December 27, 2006. Mr. Hanbury was born on June 4, 1922, to the Hon. Wilfred and Edith Hanbury. The Air Force thought he was an excellent pilot as they had him teaching others how to fly during WWII. His Air Force successes were relatively short lived since he had affection for practical jokes that resulted in just enough demotions to counter the promotions he received. Flying fighters introduced Mr. Hanbury to another of his life long passions - speed - which he enthusiastically pursued through a series of sports car acquisitions during his lifetime. After the war, he found the love of his life and married Suzanne (nee Malkin) on January 4, 1955. Shortly thereafter they moved to Kamloops, BC where he ran the Pondosa Pine Lumber Company at Monte Lake and gave back to the community through numerous community projects and as a member of the Gyro Club. Mr. Hanbury will be remembered as a caring person, and an intellectual with outstanding wit and charm. He is survived by his sons, Brenton (wife Diane) of Markham, Ontario and Blake (wife Nelli) of Coquitlam, BC, and their two daughters Vanessa and Shannon. He is also sadly missed by nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Carter, his twin brother Weldon, and his beloved wife, Suzanne. No service by request. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
