The family of Jean Batten announce her passing on February 14 in Edmonton, Alberta. She had struggled with deteriorating health issues. She
is survived by her daughters: Lesley (Stephen) Tomporowski, Holbein, SK; Barbara (Jim) Priddle, Edmonton, AB; special granddaughter Jocelyn (Chad) Whitney, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; great grandchildren Benjamin
and Cassandra Whitney, brother Douglas Moffat, Calgary, AB; sister-in-law Peggy Martyn, Delmeny, SK; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends worldwide. She was born on the family homestead in Blaine Lake, SK. She was predeceased by her parents and brothers Art and Gordon and husband Bill. During her married years they lived in numerous locations in western Canada
and abroad where Bill was working. Summers were always special to the family many were spent at Waskesiu and later at the cabin at Emma Lake. After her husband’s passing she moved to Edmonton and continued to travel
until such a time her health did not allow. Her hobbies included swimming, fishing, golfing, bridge and entertaining guests. She will be remembered as a wonderful Mom, Nanny, Great Nanny, and mother-in-law. There is no service at this time as per family request and in lieu of flowers a donation to the charity of choice.
