  • A joyful spirit always ready to laugh

David Wylie on February 22nd, 2012

“Ethal and my Mom were kindred spirits always ready to find the brighter side of life. Whether it was being kicked out of a west island bridge tournament because they were laughing too much or just enjoying the day at the cottage I remember the two of them almost doubled over with laughter. Ethal and Bob were like second parents to my brothers and I. We will miss you.”

  • A Woman of Gentleness and Understanding

Peter Halliday on February 22nd, 2012

“You don't know, when you're 12 years old and you hear all the adults singing and dancing and laughing, really really laughing in the basement at a party that your parents are throwing for whatever reason..you don't know at 12 years old that those parties aren't going to last forever, that those people are not going to live forever, that the laughter will stop...Mrs. Boys, and she will always be Mrs. Boys to me, was a great friend to my parents, Ellen and Jim Halliday and she was one of those people laughing in the basement. She was always kind and understanding to me as well, ready to laugh, ready to care. People as kind and genuine like her are a treasure. Thank you Mrs. Boys.”
