Ernie Crossley passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on February 20, 2012 at the age of 91.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Ruby of 70 years. Ernie will be greatly missed by his son Ernest (Ruth) and daughters Marjorie and Cyndi (Pete); eight grandchildren, Sherri-Lynn (Scott), Lorne (Yvette), Robert (Shelley), Jason (Eunice), Mike (Barb), Pam (Greg), Darron (Cheynna) and Troy. Seventeen great grandchildren: Thomas, Melissa, Nathan, Rebecca, Wyatt, Logan, Kali, Colin, Petra, Chantelle, Brittany, Tristen, Tyston, Marissa, Melody, Skye and Montana. Also his pet Nikki.

He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

Ernie was born in Delbourne, Alberta on July 8, 1920. He joined the Armed Forces and served with the Royal Canadian Engineers. Shortly after discharge he moved to B.C. where he had a satisfying career as a T.V. technician. Having semi-retired he chose to work in hotel maintenance for several more years.

Involvement in the church was important to Ernie. He loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends.

God saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, "Peace be thine".

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank-you to Dr. Eccleston and the caring staff on 1C at Kamloops Seniors Village for their wonderful care and compassion.

A Celebration of Ernie's life will be held at the First Baptist Church at 454 Columbia St. on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 1:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society.

“We are sorry to learn from my brother, Dave, the loss of a wonderful man but we know he has gone to be with the Lord. I have many beautiful memories as a teenage girl in the Burquitlam Nazarene Church the times a group of parents and their teenagers got together after a youth group or Sunday evening service at your home in Port Coquitlam. While the parents visited upstairs, us teenagers gathered in your basement for many a hymn sing and playing of our instruments. I think on many occasions of those wonderful times we had. There was much fun and laughter among us all and great fellowship. I am sure by now my parents and Mr. Crossley have had a reunion in Heaven! Our thoughts and prayers are with each of you at this difficult time. ”

“We are sorry to hear of your loss Ruby and family. Ernie was a great guy and a lot of fun...but you know that better than we do. You both ministered to us while we were in Kamloops and we greatly appreciated both of you.”
