“Dear Family
I had the wonderful pleasure of getting to know Mrs. Mackay during the time of my employ by her husband and your father, G.S. . Mrs. Mackay was always welcoming toward me when i had occasion to visit the family house. In her presence, i never felt that i was anything other than a family member. Indeed on one occasion that causes me to laugh, still, i was at a party at the family house in Parkdale and Mrs. Mackay wanted to show me something in another room. She extended her long arm and wiggled her elegant and delicate finger beckoning me to come with her. i did so and thought nothing of it. It was some days later when Mr. Mackay recounted to me, from his point of view, that i got to see how interesting that scene must of looked. And those words i used to describe Mrs. Mackay's ...delicate elegance... those were Mr. Mackay's words ... after what was already more than 30 years of marriage ... Subtle indication of his devotion to her. A woman well loved, well lived and now... well missed. ”
