DOUTHWRIGHT, BLANCHE “RITA” (DOHERTY) - 1919-2012 - Mrs. Rita Douthwright of Lower Newcastle loving wife of the late Percy Douthwright of Riverview passed away at Region #7 Hospital on February 21, 2012 at the age of 92. Besides her husband, Rita was predeceased by her parents Charles and Blanche (Innis) Doherty, one brother Harold and one sister Helena Doherty. Rita is survived by on sister Winnifred Doherty of Lower Newcastle. Rita worked for 30 years at Marvin's Biscuit Factory in Moncton as a biscuit packer.
Rita rested at Maher's Funeral Home, University Ave, Miramichi with visitation from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Wednesday, February 22nd. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, February 23rd at 11am from St Michael's Basilica with Fr John Fraser officiating. Music by Organist/ Soloist Jacqueline Allain Hymns were Amazing Grace, Song of the Angels, Gentle Women and Ava Maria. Readers were Loretta King and Mary Matchett. Active Pallbearers were Reid McCormick, Bryant Russwurm, Melvin Innes, Daryl Innes, Edward Innis and Tommy Russell. Honorary Pallbearers were Megan McIntyre, Loretta King, Clara McCormick, Eric Douthwright, Craig Douthwright and Rev Jim Nicolle. Burial at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens at 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton following church services with Rev Jim Nicolle for grave site service.
