Storey, Lorne Douglas
1916 - 2012
Storey, Lorne Douglas, 96, of Amherst, passed away on 8 March, 2012 at the Gables Lodge. Born in Springhill Junction, he was a son of the late Joseph and Greta (Harrison) Storey.
He is survived by sister Hilda Storey of Amherst; niece Joan (Roy) Dawson of Lower Sackville; nephew Colin (Anne) McCabe of Sackville, NB; niece Barbara (Winston) West of Moncton, NB and numerous great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Earl, Raymond, Donald and Murray and sisters Verna (McCabe) and Mary (Megeney).
After finishing his basic schooling in Springhill Junction, Lorne took the train daily to and from Amherst to obtain his high school education at the old Amherst Regional HS on Spring Street. Other than a brief period in Moncton during the war years, he spent his working life in Amherst. While in Amherst, Lorne spent many years working at National Shoes and then as the Assistant Manager at the NS Liquor Commission store.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, Amherst (667-8777). There is to be no visitation. A graveside service will be held at the Christ Church Cemetery at a future date.
