The death occurred suddenly at Red Deer, Alberta, on March 12, 2012, of Harold Gavin of Black Falls, Alberta, aged 54 years. Beloved husband of Joyce Gavin (nee Laybolt). Son of the late Cecil Gavin and Stella (Shea) Gavin of Charlottetown. He is survived by sons and daughters Glen (Mel) Laybolt, Charlottetown; Jolene (Kent) Wheeler, Montague; Melinda (Mark) Merner, Ontario; and Harold (Chelsey) Gavin and Nicholas (Keshia) Gavin both of Alberta. Loving grandfather to eight grandchildren. Dear brother to Carrie (Walter) MacQuarrie, Charlottetown; Sharon (Andy) Shea, Red Deer, Alta.; and Charlene (Tom) Gavin, Wanda (Percy) Henry and Rose (Vernon) Dennis, all of Charlottetown. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Erma (Eric) Rose, Stratford; and brother and sisters-in-law Joanne Brown, Fort St. John, B.C., Darlene Richard, and Bonnie Bingley, Debbie McGee and Joey Laybolt, all of P.E.I. He was predeceased by his father Cecil, brother Floyd, grandparents Harold and Helen Shea and Cletus and Caroline Gavin and father-in-law Joseph Laybolt. Resting at the West Prince Funeral Home, 522 Thompson Rd., for visiting hours Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Funeral will be held Saturday at St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, where funeral mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Donations to help the family with funeral expenses would be greatly appreciated.
