Hawes, Cyril Michael – Upper Stewiacke

Hawes, Cyril Michael – 59, Upper Stewiacke, passed away on March 25, 2012 in QEII, Infirmary Site, Halifax.

Born in Truro, he was a son of the late Hugh and Ethel (Fisher) Hawes. Most of Cyril’s working life was spent as a woodsman, having been employed with several contractors. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, companionship with his pets, and biking every chance he could. He was a loving husband, father and brother, and will be sadly missed by his wife, Donna; daughters, Cheryl (Dan Gerber), Calgary; Andrea (Adrian) Mallabo, Edmonton; Jennifer; son, Michael, both at home; siblings, Barbara (Robert) McGillvray, Dorothy Hawes (Cosimo Greco), both of Calgary; Victor and Stephen, both of Fort McMurray; Gregory, Mary (Ross) MacKenzie, both of Meaghers Grant; Bonita Ford, Oakland, California; Thelma Wright, Victoria, B.C.; Walter (Shawna), Eastville; Francis, Edmonton; Violet Hawes, Middle Musquodoboit; Alanna (Jim) MacNaughton, Hilden; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother, Leo, in infancy.

Funeral visitation will be Thursday 7-9 p.m. and funeral service will be Friday at 2 p.m., both in Stewiacke Valley Baptist Church, Upper Stewiacke, Pastor Dave Hodder officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Upper Stewiacke. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to Brain Injury Association of NS or QEII Health Sciences Foundation – Neurology Department.

The family wishes to say a heartfelt thanks to the Upper Stewiacke Volunteer Fire Department and the staff of the Neurology ICU – QEII, Infirmary Site. Cyril’s giving nature followed through when many were helped by the gift of organ donation.
