It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Agnes Doucet on March 23, 2012, at Ivany Place in Hammonds Plains, Bedford, where she was a resident for the past nine months.
Born in Stephenville, Nfld., she spent most of her life in Reserve Mines, Cape Breton, then in later years, Dartmouth. She was the youngest daughter of Sylvester and Bridget (LeForte) LeBlanc and a devote member of St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines and St. Thomas More, Dartmouth.
Surviving are her only daughter, Melissa (Bill) MacNeil, 79 Lakeshore Park Terrace, Dartmouth and special adopted son, Al Cox (Norma), Truro; three grandchildren, Tanya (Christophe) Lyon, France, Derek (Lindsay), Vancouver and Sean (Sara), Halifax. Two great-grandchildren, Camille and Niall (Aurenge), Lyon. Also surviving is one brother, Con White, Big Pond/North Sydney.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles W. Doucet; brothers, Neil Thomas, Joseph, Charles, Alex, Bill and sisters, Bridget Ann, Julia, Annie, Betty, Tillie and Mary.
Agnes was a very caring lady whose door was always open for her large extended family. She enjoyed a long, healthy life and celebrated her 100th birthday on Aug. 3, 2012. The simple things in life were most important to her, music and dance, a good Cape Breton cup of tea, picking blueberries in the backyard and getting news and visits from grandchildren and family members.
The family of Agnes take this opportunity to express our thanks to the medical and nursing staff of Ivany Place for their kindness and loving care. Thanks also to Fr. Pat Cosgrove of St. Ignatius parish and the outreach team at Saturdays mass.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of The Dartmouth Funeral Home. There will be no visitation by request. A Celebration of Life and Mass of Resurrection will be held at St. Thomas More Church, 1 Kuhn St., Dartmouth at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012. A reception will follow in the church hall.
No flowers please, donations can be made to a charity of choice.
