CROSBY, Gerald B., 95, Lockeport, died Thursday, March 22, 2012 in Surf Lodge Nursing Home. Born April 19, 1916 in South Ohio, he was the son of Stanwood “Tim” and Carrie (Burrell) Crosby. He graduated twice from Nova Scotia Normal College, Truro, first in 1937 and again in 1947 when he got his Industrial Arts license and also met his wife, Doris Hankey of Steep Creek. They married July 1, 1948 and raised 11 children in the house that Gerald built. While teaching at Lockeport Regional High he was Captain of the Air Cadet Squadron. When he retired from teaching in 1974, he continued working at a small crafts business, supplying wooden items for the tourist trade. He was a Justice of the peace for many years. He was a member of the Lockeport Kiwanis Club and served on Lockeport Town Council for a time. He enjoyed reading, gardening, stamp collecting, bowling and watching the Leafs, Red Sox and chocolate. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Doris, and children: Gail (John) Sexsmith, Hilden; Donna, Lockeport; Wynn Thibodeau (Gerald Gallant), New Minas; Donald, East Jordan; Elsie (Dennis) MacDonald, Lockeport; Allan (Brenda Burgess), Sandford; Chris (Tami), Jordan Bay; Russel, East Jordan; Joan (David) Bangay, Brentwood; Bill (Sue) Lockeport; Laura (Tim) Hicks, Thousand Oaks, California; 19 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 niece and nephew. He was predeceased by brothers Kenneth (in infancy) and Allan. Cremation has taken place under the direction of H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Lockeport. A memorial service was held on Monday, March 26 in the Holy Cross Anglican Church, Lockeport with Reverend Norma Mitchell officiating. Interment was in Lockeport Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Cross Anglican Church or a charity of choice.
