GEORGE WALTER LAMPERSON George Walter Lamperson died on December 10, 2009 at the age of 75 years. He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years Gwyneth (Davies), his two children, Ron (Shelagh) of Qualicum Beach and Joanne (James) Spooner of Port Moody and his four grandchildren, Emma, Graeme, Christopher and Daniel.

George was born in Dusseldorf, Germany on October 8, 1934. In 1949 he and his mother came to Canada. He lived in Powell River where he finished school and worked in the paper mill. George always had a fascination with streetcars, trains, cars and airplanes. He enrolled in Air Cadets and obtained a pilot’s licence at the age of 17.

George went to U.B.C. where he received a B.A. Degree in 1958 and a Law degree in 1961. He met Gwyneth while at university. They were married in May of 1961 and moved to Kamloops at that time. George completed his articles at the firm of Millward, Robinson and Fetterly where he practiced law for 13 years. In 1974, he was appointed a Judge of the Provincial Court of B.C. when the County and Supreme Courts merged in 1990. George was known for his compassion and for the fair and courteous manner in which he treated all of those who appeared before him. George loved his work and continued to sit as a supernumerary judge until 2006 when he retired at the age of 72 years. He could not have had a happier or more satisfying career.

George was a long time member of the Gyro Club and founding member of the Kamloops Flying Club. He enjoyed skiing, camping and hiking in the Rockies and cycling with his family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 19th at 2pm at St. Paul’s Cathedral, 360 Nicola Street, Kamloops, B.C. The Very Reverend Louise Peters officiating.

The family extends grateful thanks to the doctors and other health professionals who cared for George during his illness.
