Alice MacLellan

Alice Priscilla MacLellan, 90, of Bayview passed away suddenly April 1st, 2012 at the Aberdeen Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born in Parrsboro, she was the daughter of the late William Francis and Harriet Blanche (Tibbetts) Durant.
She was a traditional stay at home Mom raising six children. Later in life she trained as a Personal Care Worker having worked at Forbes Nursing Home and the Edward Mortimer Place. She was a member of the Pictou United Church, UCW and the New Horizons Seniors' Club. Alice had many interests. She loved playing cards, scrabble and solving various puzzles. She enjoyed reading, gardening, baking, bird watching, swimming and trips home to Parrsboro to visit friends and relatives. Most of all she loved her family and friends. Loving, kind, sharing, thoughtful of others are only a few words to describe our Mother.
She is survived by sons: James (Sheila), Bayview; Billy (Debbie), Pictou; Maurice (Debbie), Bayview; Steven (Darlene), Pictou; daughter, Melinda (John) McDowell, Three Brooks; sister, Frances Parsons, Parrsboro; grandchildren: Marilyn, Scotch Hill; Jean, Riverview, N.B.; Jennifer (Larry Crowell) Kingston; Angela, Beaverbank; Luke, Dartmouth; Adam, Edmonton; Carly, Pictou; Cynthia (Paul) Outred, Scotch Hill and six great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her former husband, Gordon; son, Allison G.; grandson, Alison W.; brothers: Doug, Garth, John and Richard; sister, Jean (Alex) Boyd.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m, at the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral to take place at Pictou United Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Mary Beth Moriarty officiating. Burial at the Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow in the church hall.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made in her memory to Pictou United Church or the charity of one’s choice.
