(November 2nd, 1921 – April 6th, 2012) — Passed peacefully away on Good Friday at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home in the presence of her adoring family, Gertrude Tobin of St. John’s. Predeceased by her husband William R. Tobin; sisters Mary, Ellen, Bridget, Margaret, Alice, Anne, Rita and Genevieve; brothers Philip, James, Lawrence and Edward; sister-in-law Mercedes Tobin and step-grandson Chad Mercer. Leaving to mourn her loving children Catherine Dindo (Luay), Roger (Bertha), Robert (Brenda) and Lynn-Anne; grandchildren Christopher, Gregory and Sarah Tobin and Elizabeth, Matthew and Maria Dindo; sisters Catherine Walsh and Theresa Coady; brother Michael Farrell (Emma). She leaves numerous nieces, nephews, nursing colleagues, church friends and a large extended family. How fitting that Gertrude should pass away on Good Friday, a religious lady who found such comfort from her faith. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Saturday, April 7th, from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday, April 8th, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 9th, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Pius X Church. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Flowers graciously appreciated or a donation may be made in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of one’s choice.
