With much sadness, the family of Elizabeth Scopie, age 83, of River Hebert, NS announce her peaceful passing at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Saturday, April 7, 2012.
Born in River Hebert she was a daughter of the late William and Marion (Spencer) Hyden.
Elizabeth enjoyed t.v. bingo. In her younger years she enjoyed knitting, quilting, crocheting and crossword puzzles. She loved looking after her grandchildren and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her daughters: Sonia Bester of Trout Creek, ON, Sandra Libby of Langley, BC, Darlene Mitchell (Neil) of Joggins, Jean Marie Scopie of River Hebert, Pamela Brown (Steve) of Amherst; sons: Bernard Melanson of Joggins, Thomas Melanson of Stewart, BC, Robert Scopie of Toronto, ON; fifteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Frank Melanson; a son, Micheal Scopie; grandson, Daniel Melanson; sisters: Jean Vernon & Alice Dycke; brothers: Jack Hyden, Bill Hyden, Thomas Hyden & Albert Hyden; son in laws , Larry Bester , Gordon Libby & Fred Brown.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, River Hebert. A funeral service will be held at a later date in River Hebert.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the charity of choice.
