Carol (McPhee) Kelly Carol (McPhee) Kelly

Born In: Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada

Passed in: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Passed on: April 12th, 2012

On Thursday, April 12, 2012, Carol passed from this time called life and went to live within the everlasting light and love of the Kingdom of God.
The eldest of Gordon and Marie McPhee's six children, Carol was born in St. Joseph's Hospital, Glace Bay. Growing up on Hillside Avenue, Carol attended Saint Ann and Saint Michael Schools then went on to train at St. Joseph School of Nursing. Carol's nursing career took her from Glace Bay to Melville, Sask., Smiths Falls, Ont. and then Montreal, Que., where she met Don. From Montreal, Carol and Don relocated to Don's hometown of Edmonton and over the coming years they welcomed two sons, Dwayne and Darryl.
Carol will be remembered for her dedication to her nursing career, a compassion for all who faced disadvantage, a love of music, a deep appreciation for the beauty in nature.
As her time grew short, Carol would often reflect on the joys she had been privileged to experience during her lifetime and noted her delight in raising her family, sharing in Don's career successes, watching her 'little boys' grown to be fine young men and then to be blessed with the arrival of her beautiful granddaughter, Maeve Marie.
Left to cherish her memory are Carol's husband of 35 years, Don; sons, Dwayne (Tara & Maeve); Darryl (Char); brothers, Gordie (Darlene) of Glace Bay, Tony of Calgary; sister, Lynda (Art Williamson) of Calgary; five nieces; six nephews; two great-nieces; two great-nephews; cousins in Canada and the United States. Carol will also be fondly remembered and deeply missed by the extended Kelly family and her many friends and associates.
Carol was predeceased by her mom (1967); dad (1979); sister, Shirley Dunphy (2001); brother, Elmer McPhee (2011).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Sherwood Park, Alta. on Wednesday, April 19 at 11 a.m.
“There are angels among us, sent down to us, from somewhere up above.”
