It is with great sadness that the family announces the untimely death of Edward Paul Walsh on December 15, 2009 in Strait Richmond Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney, Ed was a son of Jennie (Peinsznski) Walsh and the late George Walsh, Port Hawkesbury.
Ed worked for 27 years at the Canadian Coast Guard entertaining family and friends with stories of his trips far north. A black belt in judo Ed competed and taught the sport for several years. He was an accomplished athlete looking forward to heavy snows in the winter for cross-country skiing and warm summer days for biking topped with some friendly competition from his good friend John Ross. An ardent reader, Ed could dazzle the best of us with knowledge he retained from the many books he enjoyed. An avid supporter of preserving wilderness his kindness to wildlife was witnessed many times. Ed was content with the simple things in life and some of his happiest times were spent enjoying quality time with family and friends.
He is survived by his brother, Terry (Cathy) Walsh, Castor, Alta.; sisters, Linda Dalwood, Calgary, Alta., Joanne (Bruce) Kennedy, Peru, N.Y.; niece, Jenny Kennedy, Driggs, Idaho; nephew, Casey (Michelle) Kennedy, Peru, N.Y.
