BURROUGHS: Oline Sophia Marlow-Burroughs (nee: Dahl) age 94 years, of Swift Current, SK. passed away April 18, 2012 at the Swift Current Care Centre. The funeral service was held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 23, 2012 from the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, with Pastor Greg Kiel officiating. The organist for the service was Grace Herbel, the soloist was Nancy Lemay and the eulogist was Darla Robins. The interment service was held at Mount Pleasant Burial Park Cemetery. Oline was survived by a sister Esther Koehn; sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and numerous nIEces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents Olga and Olaf Dahl; sisters: Clara (Boe), Goldie Helgeson, Thelma Tangen, Mabel Stewart, Merle, Opal Olson; brothers: Selmer and Herbert Dahl. Oline Sophia Marlow-Burroughs (Nee: Dahl) was born January 28, 1918, the second daughter to her loving parents Olga and Olaf Dahl. Oline grew up in the Fosterton district and attended Scotia School. Oline then moved to Swift Current, where she started her long administrative career as bookkeeper at the Healy Hotel. It was here where she met the first love of her life, Ralph Marlow. Ralph and Oline were united in marriage in July 1942. Ralph passed away November 21, 1974. Oline continued her career and always tried to instill in her many nieces and nephews the importance of education. In 1968 Oline was the president of the Toast-Mistress Club, whose purpose was self education "You now know what she preached to us nieces and nephews!" Oline's administrative career again continued and she retired her career with the Department of Agriculture. Oline was an avid sports enthusiast and many many times the Oline Marlow Rink won the various Ladies Curling Bonspiels. Golf was another passion of Oline's, which she also excelled in. Sport was not the only passion of Oline's, and in 1981 Oline was united in marriage to Robert Burroughs. Bob passed away in December 1985. A dear friend of Bob & Oline's, Ernie Downs, said he had promised Bob he would always do Oline's taxes for her. Ernie shared that he was getting concerned Oline would soon outlive him! Oline leaves to mourn her living sister Esther Koehn. Oline always declared her love of Esther and said she was so blessed to spend her last days with her sister. We will all miss Oline's great sense of humor and beautiful smile. A loving care-giver, Lisa, sang to Oline while she was passing, the beautiful song I'll Fly Away. Oline looked at us and her final words were "I'll fly away". Memorial donations in her memory to the St. Olaf Lutheran Church would be appreciated by the family.
