Jean Perry (Maher)

PERRY (MAHER), JEAN M. - Jean Marie Perry (née Straight) of Saint John, wife of Harold Edward Perry, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born in Cambridge Narrows on August 25, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Beatrice (Lovely) Straight. Jean worked at the Provincial Hospital, at Ridgewood, and retired from the Worker’s Rehab Centre in 1990. She was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 22, and enjoyed playing Bingo. In her spare time, Jean also enjoyed puzzle books, and loved her flower gardens and her pets, especially her cats Klinger and Max. In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by her daughter, Starr Toner of Saint John; grandchildren Angela Urquhart (Doug) and Andrew McFarlane; great grandchildren Lauren, Tyler, Owen, and Noah; a great great grandson Isaiah; siblings Allan Straight (Jackie) of Cambridge Narrows, Cora Johnson of Cambridge Narrows, Robert Straight (Kathy) of Ward’s Creek, Charles Straight of Fredericton, Stephen Straight (Doris) of Young’s Cove, James Straight (Anna Marie) of Cambridge Narrows, and John Straight (June) of Cambridge Narrows; step children Edward Perry (Helen) of Collina, Margaret Perry-Dupuis (Bert) of Coles Island, Lloyd Perry (Brenda) of Penobsquis, Winnifred Weir (Fred) of Chipman, and Andrew Perry (Joan) of Toronto; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother-in-law Floyd Johnson; sister-in-law Pearl Redmond; and several nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her first husband, Harold Maher; sister Muriel Straight and Evelyn Johnson; and by a brother-in-law, Raymond Johnson.
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 2 to 8 PM. A graveside funeral service will be held for family and friends on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the McDonald Corner Cemetery, Cambridge Narrows.
