It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Theresa MacDonald, on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at her home in Northwood Manor, Halifax.
Born in Alder Point, C.B., she was the daughter of the late John and Julia (Arsenault) Devoe.
Theresa moved to Halifax from Scotch Lake in 1958, and worked at the Sears store until her retirement. She travelled back to her little home in Scotch Lake every summer since, and was anxiously waiting for her return this year. She was an energetic and social lady who was truly ahead of her time.
She was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Bras d’Or and the CWL.
Theresa is survived by her loving children, Michael (Rose) MacDonald, Windsor, Ont. Julie (Bill) Yeadon, Halifax, Joanne (John) Cameron, Halifax; by her grandchildren, Darlene, Wendy, Jennifer, Shelly, Theresa, David and her ten great grandchildren; her sister, Viola (Charles) Peters, Petawawa, Ont., her brother, Dan, Ottawa; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband John Ambrose who was killed overseas during the Second World War; by an infant son, John David; by brothers, Jack, Edgar, Vincent, Augustus, Lawrence and sisters, Julie, Rita, Rose and Lena.
Visitation for Theresa will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Sunday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30am at St. Joseph Church, Bras d’Or, with Rev. Peter McLeod officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Parish Cemetery.
