Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the age of 55 years. Elias was a longtime business man in St. John’s and spent many years as the owner/operator of Bursey Cleaner’s and Contracting. Predeceased by his parents Caleb and Alfreda, 8 brothers and sisters, and father-in-law Fred Haines. Left to Celebrate his life and memory are his wife Christine; children Jamie (Joy), and Connie (Chad); Step-Children Steven (Valerie) and Nicole; grandchildren Jacob, Shania, and Ryan; Sisters Sarah (Doug) Stanley, Jessie (Gord) Hunt, and Pearl (Mike) Stacey ;Brother Ross (Angela); Mother-in-law Mildred Haines and The Haines Family; as well as many other relatives and friends. At Elias’s request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held from the Salvation Army Citadel, Adams Ave, on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 2pm with inurnment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road. A reception will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 for family and friends to celebrate his life and share some memories, and the time and location will be announced. Donations in Elias’s name may be made to the Diabetes Association.
