Louis Wilfred MacNeil - 89, formerly of Halifax, passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2012 in the Wolfville Nursing Home, Wolfville. Born in Syndey Mines, Cape Breton he was a son of the late John and Margaret (MacCormick) MacNeil. He was a veteran of the Second World War and lived most of his life in the Halifax area. He was a patient at the Nova Scotia Sanatorium, Kentville and was later employed with the Nova Scotia Corps of Commissionaires, from where he retired. He later moved to New Visions, Berwick and later to Wolfville Nursing Home. He is survived by his nieces, Ann Myers, Kentville; Shirley Clarke, Windsor, Ontario; nephew, Terry Myers, Ottawa, Ontario; numerous other nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by his wife, Cecelia; sisters, Celia Campbell, Kathleen MacNeil and Marg Myers; brothers, Alex, James, Russell, Clarence, Jackie, and Cyril. Cremation has taken place and there was no visitation, by request. The funeral mass, followed by a reception, was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2012 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kentville, Father Craig Christenson officiating. Burial took place at 3:00 p.m. in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Halifax. Donations in memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
