ROSE MARGARET ZULINICK

Born In: Saskatchewan, Canada
Born: June 2nd, 1941

Passed in: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: April 28th, 2012

On April 28, 2012 in the afternoon on a beautiful sunny day, Rose Margaret Zulinick peacefully passed away in her sleep after battling cancer for over seven years.

Rose was born on June 2nd, 1941 in rural Saskatchewan and spent a good part of her life raising her family in Mackenzie, British Columbia and the past 10 years of her life residing in Kamloops. She was the youngest of five sisters, Stevie, Frankie, Glady and Yvonne and the older sister to brothers Howard and Larry. She was the daughter of Michael and Barbara McMullen, a wife to Tony, mother to Mitchell, Joseph, Randy and Darren, a grandmother to Jesstin, Kristian, Morgan, Bailey, Kate, Sidney and Aaron, mother-in-law to Linda, Therese and Marlaina and an aunt and great aunt to so many more.

Rose's purpose in life was to be the best mother to her boys and grandmother to their children. She loved and valued family first and foremost and was generous and supportive throughout our lives. She was tough, spunky, determined and at times controversial and we loved that about her, although at times, it did make us wince and laugh.

Her battle with cancer was remarkable and her determination to soldier on and subject herself to repeated therapies that would have brought so many to their knees, was inspiring to many and a source of amazement to others. Even at the very end the cancer did not win and have its way with her, instead she decided that she had enough of it and chose to exit peacefully and painlessly and on her own terms.

Mom was loved and had friends and family around her throughout her life. She had a good life and was proud of where she had come from and very proud of her family. We loved her dearly and we will miss her greatly. A mother's love is irreplaceable but we are so lucky to have had it for so much of our lives.

The Reverend Father Peter Nguyen will celebrate the Memorial Mass on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 635 Tranquille Road.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Jesstin Zulinick Memorial Fund which is part of the Kamloops Foundation, please send donation to Rachann Pedersen, 710 Laval Crescent, Kamloops, BC V2C 5P3.
