Passed peacefully away surrounded by his loving family at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at the age of 55 years. Elias was a longtime business- man in St. John’s and spent many years as the owner/operator of Bursey Cleaner’s and Contracting. Predeceased by his parents Caleb and Alfreda, 8 brothers and sisters, and father-in-law Fred Haines. Left to Celebrate his life and memory are his wife Christine; children Jamie (Joy), and Connie (Chad); step-children Steven (Valerie) and Nicole; grandchildren Jacob, Shania, and Ryan; Sisters Sarah (Doug) Stanley, Jessie (Gord) Hunt, and Pearl (Mike) Stacey brother Ross (Angela); Mother-in-law Mildred Haines and The Haines Family; as well as many other relatives and friends. At Elias’s request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held from the Salvation Army Citadel, Adams Ave, on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 2 pm with inurnment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Forest Road. A reception will be held at The Bella Vista, Torbay Rd. on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. for family and friends to celebrate his life and share some memories. Donations in Elias’s name may be made to the Diabetes Association.
