Our hearts are broken. Our mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Pearl Rita McDonald, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2009 in Oshawa, at the age of 77, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, Pearl was the daughter of the late Dennis and Elizabeth (Boone) Kelly.
Her whole life was dedicated to her family and her home and she maintained all of it with deep faith, love and a great understanding of others needs which always came before her own. Our mother was a truly precious gift to all who knew her. She loved and was loved deeply.
She is survived by her seven children, Gerard (Lynne), Danielle Willis, Dennis (Rosie), Mary (Rene Stcyr), Jude (Heather), Cletus (Jane) and Keith (Heather). Beloved Nana to Nicole, Jason, Josh, Tania, Jodi, Adam, Matthew, Shannon, Jordan, Samantha, Ashley Behn, Lizzy, Daniel, Natalie and Breton; great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Josh and Tianna.
Mom and dad made frequent trips to Cape Breton and resided in Glace Bay for a brief period.
Sadly missed by her 11 brothers and sisters and many nieces and nephews in Glace Bay. Sisters, Mary MacAulay, Cleo (Peter Egan), Ann Marie (Gordie Boudreau) and Arlene Kelly; brothers, Ned (Anna), Dennis (Marie), Jerome (Marie), Jude (Elaine), Bernie (Dot), John (Dorothy) and Willie (Mary) Kelly.
Pearl was predeceased by her husband, soul mate and best friend, Daniel (Bunny) MacDonald; sisters, Elizabeth and Caroline Kelly; son-in-law, Gary Willis and brother-in-law, Willie MacAulay.
Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home in Oshawa her funeral mass took place Monday, Dec. 21, 2009.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Vincent de Paul Society would be greatly appreciated.
