DARTMOUTH/TRENTON – Lloyd “Greg” Carmichael, 64, of Dartmouth, formerly of Trenton, NS, died peacefully Saturday, April 28, 2012 in the Dartmouth General Hospital.
Born in New Glasgow, Greg was the son of the late Lloyd and Dorothy (Chisholm) Carmichael.
Greg was a graduate of Trenton High School and continued his secondary education at Dalhousie University. He was an employee of Fred’s Men’s Wear and the New Glasgow Evening News. Following the onset of his illness, Greg moved to Dartmouth and resided with the Khan family for the past 25 years. He was a member of the First United Church where he was active in youth groups. He enjoyed painting and sports and had played as a goalie on the Trenton High School hockey team. He was an avid Montreal Canadien and Halifax Mooseheads fan. Greg treasured the love of family and close friends who remained loyal to him through the years.
Besides being survived by numerous cousins, Greg is survived by his chosen family: Habid and Hamida Khan; daughters: Saira, Nailla, Rubeena and “Auntie” Khan (Mary Schombara).
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 11 a.m. in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, High Street, Trenton, with Mr. Fergie MacKay officiating. Following the burial in Hillside Cemetery, there will be a reception in the First United Church Hall, Trenton.
