Effie (Miller) White

1927 - 2012

The children of the late Effie (Miller) White would like to thank extended family and friends for their love and support during our time of sorrow. As the heart of our home and the joy of our family, Nanny would have been so proud to watch her grandchildren as they cared for us while we cared for her during her stay in hospital. Thank you to the staff at the Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, especially the nurses in the Palliative Care Unit, and Dr. McComiskey. We will always remember your kindness towards Mom and your compassion towards our family.

Thank you to Russell’s Funeral Home for your professionalism in handling Mom’s funeral, and to Father O’Quinn for your many prayers and presence during Mom’s final days here on earth. Thank you to Theresa and Ivan Macdonald, Sarah White, and Brian Delaney for providing music in the church.

We would also like to thank Sherry Power for the laughter and friendship she provided Mom during the time she cared for her. “I love Lucy” will always remind us of Mom and Sherry. To Frenda Hepditch who helped care for Mom over the last year, we will always have a special place in our heart for you as Mom made you the seventh daughter. We will always be grateful for the personal care you gave Mom.

Thanks to our sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law for their endless support, especially Sarah for bringing Mom communion over the years, Chipper for the many breakfasts you cooked for Mom, and Donna, who took care of all the little things that seemed so huge to us during this time. We are forever grateful to everyone in the community for the food that was brought to the hospital and to our homes, and for the endless prayers and comforting words of support that helped ease the pain. From the White family, a sincere thank you to everyone.

Forever remembered and loved by her
ten children: Melvin, Isabel, Aaron,
Leonard, Irene, Jessie, Philomena,
Christina, Sheila, and Nelson.

“Life is how you see it.” Effie White, 2012.
