Leaturice (Lee) Smith-Mumby of Swift Current, SK, passed away quietly at the Cypress Health Regional Hospital in Swift Current, on Wednesday, April 4, 2012. She was constantly surrounded by her family and many special friends. Lee was predeceased by her loving husband, Archie Mumby; infant son, Delbert; brother, Boyd; sisters, Delores and Candas; brothers-in-law, Ken, Vern and Stanley; and by her nephew, George. Lee is survived by, her children, Nathan (Cheryl) Haw of Coutts, AB, Vicky (Don) Sorenson of Comox, BC, her sons, Jay of Lethbridge, Steve (Dana) of Comox, BC, along with great-grandchildren, Leo, Grayson and Logan, Angie of Medicine Hat, AB, her sons: Aceha of Maple Creek, SK and Jonah of Medicine Hat, AB; her Step-children, Sherry (Dave) Johnston of Rosetown, SK, Paul Mumby of Eastend, SK, Randy (Margaret) Mumby of Calgary, AB, Kathryn Wilkins of London, ON, David (Heather) Wickstrom of Tompkins, SK; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren that she treasured; sister, Marlys Bingham of Claresholm, AB; brother, Dean (RheAnne) Smith of Cobourg, ON; sister-in-law, Lillian Smith of Regina, SK; and numerous nieces and nephews. Lee was multi talented: a great cook, baker, decorator, awesome dancer, great friend to many, and a wonderful teacher to us all. She was also known for her amazing cinnamon buns and her Saturday afternoon dancing at the Big I (Imperial Hotel). She really loved decorating her yard every season to compete with the neighbors. She will be dearly missed by all. Special thanks to Rev. Joell Haugan and the church ~ she loved you guys. Special thanks to Dan, Nancy and Dominick from the Swift Current Funeral Home for their kindness and caring shown to us with all their help making arrangements through this difficult time. Thanks to all the staff at the hospital that cared for Lee and made her as comfortable as possible, you were awesome!! Very special thank-you’s to Gail Wotherspoon, Sharon Wiebe and Amy Lacelle who took turns sitting with Lee to give the family a rest. Donations made to the Cypress Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated by the family. In lieu of Thank-you cards a generous donation was made from the family to the Palliative Care Unit. Lee would be so proud of the Funeral Service that was held on Friday, April 20, 2012 at 1:00 pm, from the Community Baptist Church, Swift Current, SK, with Rev. Joell Haugan officiating. Musicians, Glory Bound and Loreen Wiebe led the service with “Amazing Grace”, “Old Rugged Cross” and “Church in the Wildwood” sung by the congregation. Scriptures were read by grandsons, Darren and Tyler Johnstone and by nieces, Shirley Ann Mitchell and Noreen Doer. Patrick Estabrooks brought special song as well as reading a special poem. Tributes were shared by Danny Eidem, Dean Smith and by a PowerPoint slideshow. The ushers in the church were Cornie Martens, Harold Crisp and Dale Brooks. The Interment Service will be held at the Pennant Cemetery at a later date. Donations made to the Cypress Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit would be appreciated by the family.
