CYRENNE: Andre Gaston Cyrenne, 89 years, of Ponteix, SK passed away April 30, 2012 at Cypress Regional Hospital, Swift Current. The Prayer Service was held Friday, May 4, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. from Notre Dame d'Auvergne Roman Catholic Church. The Memorial Mass was held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, May 5, 2012 from Notre Dame d'Auvergne Roman Catholic Church, Ponteix, SK with Father Guy Amedee Ainemon, Celebrant. The organist was Claudette Begin and the soloist was Rachel Cyrenne. The Urn Bearer was Roland Cyrenne and the Cross Bearer was Paulette Sutherland. The Eulogist was Lise Cyrenne. An Honor Guard was formed by members of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Knights of Columbus. Andre is survived by five children: Lil Wanner (David), Denis Cyrenne (Sylvia), Roland Cyrenne (Rita), Lise Cyrenne (Stephanie) and Paulette Sutherland (Douglas); nine grandchildren: Shannon Wanner, Darren (Jennifer) Wanner, Sheldon (Sharon) Cyrenne, Tyler Cyrenne, Jennifer (Trevor) Lavallee, Rachel Cyrenne (Dan Desmarqis), Amber Sutherland (Nathanael Wsiaki), Ashley (Brady) Woods and Maureen Sutherland; five great grandchildren; two sisters Pauline Sundby and Claire Cyrenne and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Therese in 2011, his parents Joseph & Yvonne Cyrenne; five brothers: Majorie, George, Harve (in infancy), Paul and Gilles and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Andre was born September 9, 1922 at Ponteix, SK. He attended school at Comfort School. He was united in marriage to Theres de Repentigny on October 5, 1949 in Ponteix, SK. He was a self-employed, farming north of Ponteix for many years. Andre was very active in the Legion and Knights of Columbus. Andre enjoyed golfing, curling and bowling. When Andre had attempted other sports or activities. He typically learned quickly and luck was always on his side. Probably Andre all time favorite activity was card playing. He knew many different games and was most successful when a wager was involved. Andre and Therese traveled extensively with their motor home throughout Canada, the United States and Mexico. After their retirement they spent numerous winters in Arizona, where they made lasting friendships. Although Andre was not a man of many words, he really enjoyed having company and socializing with family and friends.
