It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Ruth Styles, on Monday, May 7, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Harbour Le Cou, N.L., she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Marjorie (Rideout) Butt.
Ruth was employed with National Sea Products in North Sydney for several years. She was a loving and dedicated wife and mother, and was happiest in the company of her family. Ruth and her husband Montford, shared their love of children by opening their home to foster children for over 20 years. She enjoyed camping in Lake Ainslie for many summers, as well as making crafts, playing, singing and listening to music and she loved to dance. Ruth was a member of St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney.
Ruth is survived by her loving children, Paul (Wanda) Styles, Dianne Styles Hall, Ruth Ann (David) Ivey, all of North Sydney, Nancy (Kevin) Robinson, New Glasgow; her grandchildren, Justin, Amanda, Stephanie, Jennifer, Laura, Derrick, Paul; her great-granddaughter, Bryleigh; her brother, Roy Butt, Newfoundland; and her sister, Maria Bungay of Sydney.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Montford, her brother, Albert and sister, Alma Hoddinott.
Visitation for Ruth will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, at St. John the Baptist Anglican Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Carl Fraser, officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice in Ruth’s memory.
