David MacKenzie

WESTVILLE – J. David MacKenzie, age 73, of Victoria Street, Westville, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow with his family by his side.
Born February 14, 1939, in Mt. William, he was a son of Jean (MacKenzie) MacKenzie and the late Frederick MacKenzie.
Dave went to school in New Glasgow and Stellarton. He was a hard worker and in his earlier years was employed with construction work. He was also employed for many years with Eastern Tire, and later operated his own Dave’s Tire Service. Dave was founder of Injured Workers and was the NS rep. for C.I.W.A. for the past 20 years, helping many injured workers get their pensions, etc., always fought for the underdog, and never looked for anything in return. He served on Westville Town Council for three years. Dave will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Dave is survived by his wife of 54 years, Georgina (MacEachern); daughters, Lee MacKenzie (Bob), Green Hill; Jackie Hayman (David), Westville; Kelly Barley (Jim), Westville; very special family friend Ruth Fraser; grandchildren: Parker (Karin), Tom (Marsha), Gina (Graham), Bruce (Jen), Steven (Chantell), Greg (Emma), Katlyn (Andy), and Bradley; great-grandchildren: Logan, Shyann, Michael, Hannah, Maddie and Nolan, “ Loves of his life!!”. He is also survived by sisters: Phyllis Zero (Jack), Mass., Winnie Gratto (Brent), Mark Rd., Jan Chabassol (Francis), Westville; brothers: Hugh (Stella), Westville, Lloyd (Zura), Maitland, Harold (Debbie), Toronto, Bill (Lynn), White Hill.
Visitations will be held on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday from St. Bees Anglican Church, Westville with the Rev. Peter Armstrong officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
