Betty Thibodeau
THIBODEAU, BETTY - After a lengthy battle with her health, Betty (Veinott) Thibodeau passed peacefully into the arms of our dear Lord and her saviour on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the age of 81 where she was surrounded by her family and angels at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Newcastle, NB, she was the daughter of the late Sydney and Edith (Paddock) Veinott. She was the loving wife of the late George Thibodeau. Betty was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, a sister, an aunt, and dear friend and neighbor to many. She was an active charter member of the River Valley Wesleyan Church where she enjoyed molding the minds of her young charges in Sunday School. Betty also took part in the Women’s Ministry, Bible study, and library. Summer getaways to Beulah Camp were a must for Betty. Her car was always full for these adventures and she treasured her time of fellowship there with family, friends and her grandchildren. As a long term employee of Dominion Store, she retired at the age of 70. Betty found the time to volunteer at the Romero House Soup Kitchen, and delivered meals locally through Meals on Wheels. Betty enjoyed her time as a Red Hatter, and she most loved to travel and spend time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her only daughter Stephanie (Glen) Clark of Terra Cotta ON., her sons Peter (Debbie) of Nerepis NB, Mark of Lloyd Minister AB, and Geordie of Toronto, ON, her precious grandchildren Victoria (Jared), Jonathan (Tara), Nicholas and Geordie Scott; great grandchildren Sylas, Sean, Riot and a special blessing on its way; her sister Ruth Kirkpatrick and her children Patty, Diane, Chuck, Starlene and Gloria, as well as great grand nieces and nephews, who were so very endearing and she was to them. In addition to her parents and her husband George, Betty was also predeceased by her dear friend Les McAdam.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John, NB (646-2424) with visitation on Tuesday 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the River Valley Wesleyan Church, Grand Bay-Westfield, NB, at 11 am. A reception in Betty's honour will follow the service immediately. Committal will be held at St. Peter's Cemetery, Woodman’s Point, NB for both Betty and her late husband George on Friday, May 18, 2012 at 11 am. Donations in Betty's memory would be appreciated to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Gideon Bible Society, or the charity of the donors’ choice. A special thank you to Dr. R. Webb for all his years of loving care, most recently Dr. D. England, Dr. Doherty, her daughter-in-law Debbie for the wonderful care she provided for mom, the Staff at Palliative Care, and of course all of the angels at Serenity Cove Special Care Home who blessed our mom for the last 6 years. Without their loving care and attention we would not have these extra years to spend with her. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for being there for mom and her family.
